First days were always filled with boring administration tasks that Eva would rather not be a part of. The human resources representative would meet Merlyn at the designated area, friendly and cordial but all business and no fun. She would walk him through all the necessary, boring, time consuming paperwork that was involved with a government job. The most notable items being the non-disclosure agreement and the security clearance documents. It was very clear the Professor had really cracked down on that after . . . previous experiences.

Eventually, the representative would lead Merlyn to the doctor’s lab. The sliding doors would open welcomingly into the pristine, clean lab of Dr. Eva Morales. A banner hung across the threshold, welcoming Merlyn to his first day. He’d find the Professor in a rather compromising position, sprawled out over a Gallade, trying to hold down the pokemon with one knee and the weight of her rather petite body.

“Oh geez, hold still ya big baby!” the Gallade under Eva’s care was defiantly wiggling around, avoiding the salve she had spread across her gloved fingers. The Gallade had a fairly hearty gash across his left shoulder. Eventually, the doctor was successful and clumsily smeared the homemade remedy across the wound, “Ha ha!” she cheered in triumph, pumping a fist into the air which gave her starter pokemon the opportunity to strike back. A well-placed PSYCHIC sent her sliding across the tile floor on her back. It would end with her stopping just shy of Merlyn, wide green eyes blinking up at him in mild confusion and well, a little shock. No fucking way, he looked just like….

“Hi! You must be Merlyn,” she popped up to her feet, extending her left hand forward to shake his awkwardly. The other was still gloved with sticky salve coating her fingertips, “Hope the on-boarding wasn’t too boring for you.”
